S1 Week 1: Weslandia

 Dear parents,

I hope this message finds you well! Please see below for an overview of what we worked on in class today, as well as the homework assigned.

Here is what we completed on Tuesday:

  • Reviewed classroom expectations
  • Introduced Vocabulary Words #1–15
  • Learned about drawing conclusions and completed the corresponding page in the Reading and Writing Notebook (RWN)
  • Reminder: There will be a vocabulary quiz on Friday

Here is what we completed Wednesday:

  • Reviewed classroom expectations
  • Introduced Vocabulary Words #15–30
  • Completed some RWN pages
  • Reminder: There will be a vocabulary quiz on Friday

Here is what we completed Thursday:

  • Reviewed how to make a conclusion
  • We started reading Weslandia and comprehending it
  • Reminder: There will be a vocabulary quiz tomorrow!
    • The quiz will have these types of questions: listen and match; make sentences; proof reading; true/false; classifying; fill-in-the-blank.

  • Today we completed a vocabulary quiz!

Tuesday Homework:

  1. RWN p. 249
  2. Write 5 sentences from vocabulary #1-15
    1. Use these words for three of the sentences: banana, civilization, blunder
    2. Choose any two additional vocabulary words to complete your five sentences
  3. Read RS p. 26-32

Wednesday Homework:

  1. Review Worksheet: Click Here
  2. Write 5 sentences from vocabulary #16-30
    1. Use these words for three of the sentences: moan, stampede, safari
    2. Choose any two additional vocabulary words to complete your five sentences
  3. RWN p. 251 (if not finished in class)

Thursday Homework:

  2. Study for quiz tomorrow (vocab. #1-30)
  3. RS p. 33-37

S1 Week 13: The Skunk Ladder

  Dear parents, I hope this message finds you well! Please see below for an overview of what we worked on in class today, as well as the homework assigned.  You will notice that I have assigned vocabulary for students to study at home. As we move forward and spend more class time on more challenging concepts, I hope to help students build independence by having them learn the vocabulary on their own. At the A2 level, I trust in their abilities, and many students have already shown that they can preview and study these words effectively. Please remind your child to pay attention to each word’s part of speech and ensure the definition makes sense to them. If they are unsure about any vocabulary word, they should bring their questions to class the following day so I can review it with them.
