S1 Week 2: Weslandia

  Dear parents,

I hope this message finds you well! Please see below for an overview of what we worked on in class today, as well as the homework assigned.

Here is what we completed on Monday:

  • Reviewed what can be found on this blog
    • If students have forgotten their homework or books at school, please have them check this blog to complete their homework. I will not accept that they forgot their homework at school as an excuse for them not completing their homework, especially over the weekend.
  • Introduced Vocabulary Words #1–15

Here is what we completed on Tuesday:

  • Introduced Vocabulary Words #16-30
  • Went over Subject and Object Pronouns
  • Went over the Notes Page
  • Finished our story

Here is what we completed on Wednesday:

  • We did two pages of RWN (p. 254-255) about instruction manuals
  • We reviewed some problem words
  • We also started our first writing task

Here is what we completed on Thursday:

  • We did completed an RWN page about fictional narratives
  • We reviewed the questions students had on the notes page
  • We did more review of the whole unit!

Here is what we completed on Friday:

  • We completed the unit test for Weslandia!

  1. Quiz corrections and parent's signature
  2. Write 6 sentences from vocabulary #1-15
    1. Use these words for three of the sentences: snap, outcast, staple
    2. Choose any three additional vocabulary words to complete your five sentences

Tuesday Homework:

  1. Write 6 sentences from vocabulary #15-30
    1. Use these words for three of the sentences: aromatic, apiece, spectator
    2. Choose any three additional vocabulary words to complete your five sentences

S1 Week 13: The Skunk Ladder

  Dear parents, I hope this message finds you well! Please see below for an overview of what we worked on in class today, as well as the homework assigned.  You will notice that I have assigned vocabulary for students to study at home. As we move forward and spend more class time on more challenging concepts, I hope to help students build independence by having them learn the vocabulary on their own. At the A2 level, I trust in their abilities, and many students have already shown that they can preview and study these words effectively. Please remind your child to pay attention to each word’s part of speech and ensure the definition makes sense to them. If they are unsure about any vocabulary word, they should bring their questions to class the following day so I can review it with them.
